UNDERGROUND COLLISION PREVENTION SYSTEMS (CPS)

INTRODUCTION

The FavorSea underground CPS solution provides EMESRT level 7-9 compliant CxD devices for use in harsh mining environments. The CPS solution addresses the following collision interaction risk events:

  • TMM-to-Pedestrian collision interactions.
  • TMM-to-TMM collision interactions.

The FavorSea underground CPS solution meets the requirement of both the ISO 21815 and MOSH CMS User Requirement tests, completed through the University of Pretoria. Reports are available upon requests. All CxD devices are ICASA certified.

The CxD devices are designed for use in hazardous and non-hazardous environments. Devices for hazardous environment are Ex-ia certified, making it suitable for underground hard rock and coal mines.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW

CPS TECHNOLOGY

The FavorSea underground CPS solution is a wireless system based on time-of-flight operation and improved through 3D high precision positioning to optimise accuracy. The solution combines cutting edge technologies to ensure seamless operation and integration with high levels of repeatability. Technologies used in the design include:

  • Millimetre Wave Doppler Radar technology.
  • 3D High precision positioning technology.
  • Machine vision for object identification.
  • Radio Frequency (RF) to communicate machine parameters, position and speed to surrounding machines.

Pedestrians are detected through tags integrated into underground cap lamps, provides through FavorSea designed cap lamps.

The tag can also be retrofitted to an existing FNB TC2 cap lamp.

For surface applications, FavorSea provides a wearable tag solution.

CPS CAPABILITY

The FavorSea underground CPS solution is capable of user defined zone shaping according to customer needs and provides options for dynamic and static zone setups. This functionality makes a big difference in allowing for practical zone setups that will allow for uninterrupted production whilst keeping employees safe.

The FavorSea underground CPS solution has high levels of protection against interference, such as interference from battery sources such as GDIs and other electronic equipment.

The 3D High precision positioning technology reduces the occurrence of false indications significantly.

The FavorSea underground CPS solution utilizes complementing solutions to improve its strength in level 7-9 capability, and to provide additional value. Such solutions include:

  • Test stations in lamp rooms.
  • Managed check out stations and lamp rooms.
  • Underground asset tagging and tracking solutions.
  • Geo-fencing and no-go areas for TMM.
  • Speed limiting on TMM.
  • Operator authentication.
  • Digital reporting:
    • Level 7-9 interaction events.
    • Asset movement.
    • Personnel movement.
  • Digital checklists.

CPS COMPLIANCE

The FavorSea underground CPS solution meets the following requirements:

  • ISO 9001:2015: Quality Management Systems.
  • SANS 60079-1: Explosive atmospheres Part 1: Equipment protection by flameproof enclosures "d".
